Additional Information
SNAP benefits stolen on or after December 21, 2024, are no longer eligible for replacement using federal funds, as the statutory authority to do so expired on December 20, 2024. However, if your benefits were stolen before that date, you may still be eligible for a replacement—contact your state agency to report the theft.
For retroactive claims, households had 30 calendar days from the public announcement date (September 1, 2023) to file. For regular claims, theft must be reported within 30 calendar days of discovery, and the claim form must be submitted within 10 business days of that report. Theft reports should be made by phone, and claim forms can be submitted by mail, fax, or in person at local offices. The state has 30 calendar days to validate the claim.
Approved benefits are issued immediately after the claim is approved. Be sure to request a new EBT card to prevent further theft.
