Additional Information
Federal law allowing the replacement of stolen SNAP benefits expired on December 20, 2024. As a result, any benefits stolen on or after December 21, 2024, cannot be reimbursed using federal funds.
If your SNAP benefits were stolen before that date, contact your state agency immediately to report the theft. For retroactive claims, households had 60 calendar days from the state’s plan start date (July 1, 2023) to report the loss. For new cases, you must report theft within 30 calendar days of discovering it. Claims can be submitted by phone, mail, or in person at local offices. The state has up to 10 calendar days to validate a claim, with more time allowed if additional information is required.
If your claim is approved, benefits will be reissued within two business days. To receive them, you’ll need to either re-PIN or replace your SNAP card.
