Federal authorization to replace stolen SNAP benefits ended on December 20, 2024, so any benefits stolen on or after December 21, 2024, cannot be reimbursed using federal funds.
If your SNAP benefits were stolen, promptly contact your state agency. For retroactive claims, you had 60 calendar days from the plan’s start date (July 31, 2023) to submit. Regular claims must be submitted within 60 calendar days of discovering the theft. Theft can be reported by phone, mail, email, online, or in person, while claims may be submitted by mail, email, or in person at local offices. The state will validate the claim within 10 business days.
Once approved, retroactive benefits are issued within 30 calendar days of submission, and regular benefits within 10 business days of receipt. Be sure to replace your EBT card.
