Additional Information
If your SNAP benefits were stolen before December 21, 2024, you may still be eligible for a replacement—but only under specific conditions. The federal authority to replace stolen benefits ended on December 20, 2024, so any theft that occurred after this date is no longer covered under federal replacement guidelines.
To report stolen benefits, contact your state agency as soon as possible. For retroactive claims, you had 90 calendar days from the start of the state’s plan (September 5, 2023) to report the theft, followed by 10 more calendar days to submit the official claim form. For regular claims, theft must be reported within 30 calendar days of discovery. Claims and supporting documents can be submitted through mail, fax, online, or by visiting your local office in person. Once your claim is submitted, the state will review and validate it within 10 calendar days. If approved, replacement benefits will be issued within 10 calendar days, and you’ll need to replace your SNAP EBT card to access them.
