Additional Information
The ability to replace stolen SNAP benefits using federal funds ended on December 20, 2024. As a result, any SNAP benefits stolen on or after December 21, 2024, cannot be reimbursed through federal funding. If your benefits were stolen prior to this date, you should report the theft to your state agency immediately.
If you receive a notice from the state, you have 45 calendar days from the date it is mailed to submit a retroactive claim. For newly discovered theft, regular claims must be submitted within 30 calendar days. Claims can be submitted through multiple channels—by mail, fax, voice mailbox, online, or at your local office. The state has 30 calendar days to validate your claim. Once approved, benefits are typically issued within five business days of receiving your signed claim and within one business day after approval. Be sure to re-PIN your card to help secure future benefits.
