Additional Information
The statutory authority to replace stolen SNAP benefits expired on December 20, 2024. Therefore, any SNAP benefits stolen on or after December 21, 2024, are no longer eligible for replacement using federal funds. If you suspect your benefits were stolen before that date, it’s important to contact your state agency promptly to report the theft and initiate a claim.
For retroactive claims, households had up to 90 calendar days from August 10, 2023 (the state plan approval date), to submit their claim. Regular claims must be submitted within 30 calendar days of discovering the theft. Reports and claims can be submitted by mail, email, fax, phone, online, or in person at local offices. The state will validate the claim within 1 to 10 calendar days, plus an additional 1 to 5 business days. Approved benefits will be issued in the same manner as other SNAP replacements, and a new EBT card will be required.
