Additional Information
The federal authority to replace stolen SNAP benefits ended on December 20, 2024. As a result, any benefits stolen on or after December 21, 2024, cannot be replaced using federal funds. If your benefits were stolen before that date, contact your state agency to report the theft and begin the claims process.
For retroactive claims, households had 45 calendar days from July 14, 2023, to initially report the theft. Once reported, the state mails out a claim form, which must be returned within 30 calendar days. For regular claims, theft must be reported within 45 days of the incident, with the state sending a claim form within 10 calendar days; the household then has 30 calendar days to submit the completed form. Reports can be made by phone, mail, email, or in person. Claims may be submitted by mail, fax, email, or in person at local offices. The state has 30 calendar days to validate claims, and approved benefits will be issued within 5 calendar days of the Notice of Decision. A replacement EBT card is required.
