Additional Information
The statutory authority to replace stolen SNAP benefits ended on December 20, 2024. This means benefits stolen on or after December 21, 2024, are no longer eligible for replacement using federal funds. If your benefits were stolen before this date, you may still be able to submit a claim depending on when your state started its replacement process.
If you previously reported the theft to your state, you will receive a letter and have 30 days to submit a retroactive claim. Otherwise, households have 30 days after the state publicly announces its stolen benefit replacement process to submit a retroactive claim. Theft must be reported within 10 calendar days of discovery, with claim forms submitted within 10 more calendar days. Reports and claims can be made by phone, email, mail, fax, or in person. The state has 10 calendar days from the date of report or claim submission (whichever is later) to validate the claim. Approved benefits will be issued within 10 calendar days. You must replace your EBT card.
