Additional Information
The ability to replace stolen SNAP benefits using federal funds ended on December 20, 2024. As a result, any benefits stolen on or after December 21, 2024, are no longer eligible for replacement. If your benefits were stolen before this cutoff date, you may still be able to file a claim depending on your state’s plan.
To report stolen SNAP benefits, contact your state agency. If your state began its plan on September 27, 2023, you had 30 calendar days from that date to submit a retroactive claim. For current claims, theft must be reported within 10 calendar days of discovery, and the claim form must be submitted within the following 10 days. Reports and claims can be submitted via mail, phone, fax, email, or in person at local offices.
Once a claim is submitted, the state has 10 business days from the report of loss or 2 business days after receiving the claim (whichever is later) to validate it. If approved, benefits are issued within 10 business days. Be sure to replace your EBT card promptly.
