Additional Information
If your SNAP benefits were stolen before December 21, 2024, you may be eligible for replacement—federal law no longer allows reimbursement for thefts occurring on or after that date.
To begin the process, contact your state agency to report the theft. If the loss occurred prior to the plan start date (Aug. 1, 2023), households had 30 days from that date to file a retroactive claim. For recent thefts, you must report the loss within 30 days of discovering it, and then submit a claim form within 10 calendar days after the report.
Reports and claims can be submitted by phone, mail, email, fax, or in person. The state will validate the claim within 30 calendar days of the initial report. If your claim is approved, replacement benefits will be issued the day after approval. Be sure to replace your EBT card to prevent further losses.
