Additional Information
If your SNAP benefits were stolen before December 21, 2024, you may still qualify for a replacement—benefits stolen on or after that date are not eligible due to the expiration of federal authority on December 20, 2024.
To report theft, contact your state agency by phone, mail, email, or in person. If the theft occurred before the plan’s launch (Sept. 1, 2023), households had 30 days from that date to file a retroactive claim. For current thefts, you must discover the loss within 30 calendar days of the incident, report it within 30 days of discovery, and submit a claim form during that same window.
The state has 30 calendar days to validate your claim. If approved, replacement benefits are issued within 24 hours. Don’t forget to replace your EBT card to help prevent future theft.
