Additional Information
The authority to replace stolen SNAP benefits expired on December 20, 2024. As a result, any SNAP benefits stolen on or after December 21, 2024, are not eligible for replacement through federal funds. If you’ve experienced benefit theft before that date, contact your state agency immediately to report it.
If you previously reported SNAP theft, the state will reach out to you—once contacted, you have 90 calendar days to file a retroactive claim. For others, retroactive claims must be submitted within 90 days from the state’s plan start date of June 16, 2023. Regular claims must be submitted within 90 days of the theft date. Claims can be filed via mail, fax, email, or in person at local offices, and must include a physical signature. The state has 30 calendar days to validate claims, and approved benefits are issued within 30 days. Be sure to replace your EBT card to access any reissued funds.
