Additional Information
The federal authority to replace stolen SNAP benefits ended on December 20, 2024. This means that any SNAP benefits stolen on or after December 21, 2024, cannot be reimbursed with federal funds. If your benefits were stolen before that date, contact your state agency right away to report the theft.
Households had 180 calendar days from the start of the state’s plan (December 1, 2023) to submit a retroactive claim. For ongoing cases, theft must be reported within 60 calendar days of discovery, followed by submission of a claim form within an additional 10 days if filed electronically or 14 days if sent by mail. Reports can be made by phone or in person, and claims may be submitted via mail, fax, phone, email, or in person at local offices. The state is required to validate claims within 10 business days.
Once a claim is approved, benefits are reissued within 10 business days. To ensure security, you must replace your EBT card.
