Additional Information
If your SNAP benefits were stolen before December 21, 2024, you may still qualify for a replacement. However, federal support for replacing stolen benefits ended on December 20, 2024, so thefts occurring on or after December 21 are not eligible for federally funded replacements.
To report stolen benefits, contact your state agency right away. For retroactive claims, you had 30 calendar days from when the state began its plan (September 1, 2023) to submit your request. For regular claims, theft must be reported within 30 calendar days of discovery, and the official claim form must be submitted within 10 additional calendar days. You can report theft or submit claims through phone, online, email, mail, or in person at a local office. The state must validate your claim within 10 calendar days of your report, or within two business days of your claim form submission—whichever is later. If approved, replacement benefits are issued within two business days. A new EBT card is also required to access your funds.
