Additional Information
The federal authority to replace stolen SNAP benefits ended on December 20, 2024. As a result, any benefits stolen on or after December 21, 2024, are not eligible for replacement using federal funds. If you experienced a theft before this date, promptly contact your state agency to report it.
To submit a retroactive claim, households had 30 business days from the launch of the state’s plan on September 1, 2023. For standard claims, theft must be reported within 30 business days of discovery, followed by submission of the claim form within 10 additional business days. Reports can be made by phone, mail, or in person, and claims must be submitted either by mail or at local offices. The state will validate claims within 10 business days, with an extension of up to 10 more days if more information is required. Approved benefits are issued within 10 business days of claim submission—or up to 20 business days if additional verification is needed. You’ll need to replace your EBT card to access the restored benefits.
