Additional Information

The authority to replace stolen SNAP benefits using federal funds expired on December 20, 2024. This means any SNAP benefits stolen on or after December 21, 2024, are no longer eligible for federal reimbursement. If your benefits were stolen before this date, it’s important to report the incident to your state agency as soon as possible.

Households have 60 calendar days from the start of their state’s plan (October 30, 2023) to file a retroactive claim. For new thefts, you must report the incident within 60 calendar days of the theft and submit a claim form within 10 additional business days, with a possible extension of 10 more business days if requested. Theft reports can be made by phone through your local office call center, and claims can be submitted by mail, electronically, or in person at local offices. The state will validate claims within 10 business days, and once approved, benefits will be available the day after approval. Remember to re-PIN your card for security.
