Additional Information
The authority to replace stolen SNAP benefits using federal funds ended on December 20, 2024. Therefore, any SNAP benefits stolen on or after December 21, 2024, are not eligible for replacement through federal resources. Individuals who experience benefit theft should promptly contact their state agency to report the incident.
Households had 40 calendar days from August 10, 2023—the date the state launched its plan—to submit a retroactive claim. For current claims, theft must be reported within 30 days of discovery, and the claim form must be submitted within the following 10 days. Theft reports can be made by phone, mail, or in person, while claims may be submitted via phone, mail, fax, online, or in person at local offices. The state has 10 business days to validate the claim, and approved replacement benefits will be issued within 5 business days of approval. A replacement EBT card is also required.
