Additional Information
The federal authority to replace stolen SNAP benefits expired on December 20, 2024. This means that any SNAP benefits stolen on or after December 21, 2024, are no longer eligible for replacement using federal funds. If your benefits were stolen before that date, you should contact your state agency as soon as possible to report the theft and begin the claims process.
For retroactive claims, households had 45 calendar days from July 14, 2023—the date the state implemented its plan—to file. Regular claims must be submitted within 45 days from the date the theft occurred. Reports and claims can be submitted by phone, mail, email, or in person at local offices.
Once a claim is received, the state has either 10 business days from the report of loss or 2 business days from the date the claim was submitted—whichever is later—to validate the claim. If approved, replacement benefits will be issued within the same time frame. Be sure to replace your EBT card if it was compromised.
